UNC Charlotte selects TIND Digital Archive and TIND Institutional Repository

Charlotte, NC and Oslo, Norway, May 10. The University of North Carolina at Charlotte has selected TIND DA and TIND IR to enhance the preservation and accessibility of their scholarly and historical resources. Transitioning from their current platform, Islandora, UNC Charlotte chose TIND for its robust infrastructure for digital preservation and friendly user interface.

UNC Charlotte's digital repositories hold over 12 terabytes of data, including academic publications, historical photographs and oral histories. Niner Commons, UNC Charlotte's institutional repository, promotes the visibility and accessibility of the university's scholarly output and will be hosted on TIND IR. The institution's digital archive, Goldmine, which archives a big part of the region's historical documents and multimedia, will be hosted on TIND DA.

Stephen Weiter, Interim Dean of Libraries, highlights the importance of upgrading their repositories: "UNC Charlotte's J. Murrey Atkins Library is pleased to have recently selected TIND as our primary platform for both our institutional repository, Niner Commons, and digital heritage repository, Goldmine. TIND provides a robust infrastructure for digital preservation and a friendly user interface that will allow us to make the university's scholarly output and the Charlotte community's history easily accessible and preserved for the future."

UNC Charlotte joins a growing number of academic libraries using TIND as a single platform to host their digital collections, scholarly output, and research data. This integration not only boosts discoverability, cost efficiency, and staff productivity but also ensures tailored workflows and comprehensive features across diverse content sets.
