Inwood, WV -- July 2, 2024. The Library Corporation (TLC) is thrilled to announce Ackley Public Library's transition to Library.Solution from Follett Destiny, by joining the NILC (North Iowa Libraries Collaborating) consortia. This move was made possible by a generous grant from the Ackley Community Foundation. This significant upgrade aims to enhance both staff operations and patron services, aligning the library's resources with the needs of the community.
Ackley Public Library's primary reason for selecting TLC's Library.Solution was the system's suitability for public libraries. While their previous software was built for schools, TLC offers comprehensive and user-friendly experiences that can accommodate each audience: public libraries and schools. With 50 years of experience tailoring its library solutions, TLC provides Ackley Public Library and the NILC consortia with streamlined operations and enhanced patron experiences, distinct from the company's schools-focused solution.
Library Director, Marjean Clemons, has noted that the move to TLC "has been a big upgrade." The overall experience has been positive, with the library benefiting from being part of a consortium with other local libraries, allowing for collaborative support and shared expertise.
The TLC system is anticipated to have a significant positive impact on both the community and library staff. The transition is expected to streamline operations and improve service delivery, making it easier for patrons to search for books, renew titles online, and receive email reminders for due and overdue books. After going live in February of this year, patrons have already expressed appreciation for the enhanced online catalog features and the convenience of email notifications. For the staff, the reduction in mailed overdue notices translates to cost savings and increased efficiency.
Clemons has expressed excitement about the future with TLC. The system's user-friendly interface is expected to increase online catalog usage, providing a more engaging and accessible library experience for all patrons. The library staff look forward to continued support and collaboration within the consortium, ensuring that they can provide the best possible service to the Ackley community.
"We are thrilled to have Ackley Public Library join the TLC family," stated Annette Murphy, CEO and co-founder of TLC. "We are eager to provide support to the library and its community for many years ahead."
