Press Release: Ex Libris [April 2, 2025]

Successful launch of the first Ex Libris Library Open Workflows Partner Power Hour

We are excited to share the highlights from our inaugural Library Open Workflows (LibOW) "Partner Power Hour", the first in a series of six sessions designed to showcase the power of Library Open Workflows and the value of collaborative sharing. This event brought together more than 60 participants from our Development Partner institutions to exchange ideas, demonstrate innovative solutions, and foster stronger connections within the library community.

Spotlight on Innovation

The session featured compelling presentations from two of our Partners, highlighting the impact of workflow automation and optimization. Tuomo Seppänen from Tampere University, Finland demonstrated how automating invoice creation in Alma can significantly reduce manual work, improving efficiency and streamlining operations. While Kasper Løvschall from Aalborg University Library, Denmark introduced an innovative approach to blocking physical requests for patrons with account issues, ensuring a better experience for patrons and staff.

Collaboration, Networking, and Engagement

The LibOW "Partner Power Hour" underscored the importance of collaboration and knowledge sharing within the community. Participants explored Alma's embedded sharing functionality as a tool for exchanging workflows, while discussions highlighted the need for an "experimental" category to support ongoing innovation. The session also provided a valuable networking platform, fostering new professional connections and sparking ideas for future collaborations. Active participation and a dedicated Q&A segment enriched the discussion, with Ex Libris gathering valuable feedback from Development Partners to further enhance LibOW and ensure its continued success.

With such an enthusiastic start, we look forward to the next LibOW "Partner Power Hour", continuing to drive innovation, collaboration, and growth within the library community.
