Ohio -- February 12, 2026. Civica, a global GovTech champion supporting the needs of citizens and those that serve them every day, has helped the College of Southern Idaho (CSI) modernize and digitize its library archives using Spydus Integrated Library System. The transformation has made decades of historical collections accessible to students, staff, and the wider Magic Valley community for the first time.
As CSI approached its 60th anniversary, the college identified an opportunity to preserve and share its rich institutional and regional history. Previously stored in physical box files and supported by outdated systems, the archives were largely hidden from public view and difficult to manage. By implementing Spydus, CSI now benefits from a single, integrated platform designed specifically for managing digital archives, collections, and exhibits.
Spydus provides CSI with a streamlined way to create and manage digital collections, curate engaging online exhibits, and integrate archival content seamlessly with broader library services. Tasks that previously took months can now be completed in days, with new collections created in minutes using intuitive templates and automated workflows. The system has also reduced duplicated data, improved accuracy, and simplified ongoing record management.
The modernized archives are already driving increased engagement. Approximately half of users now come from within the college, while external interest from local businesses, historians, and community members continues to grow. Improved visibility has also led to an increase in donations of historically significant materials, helping CSI expand its collections and preserve regional history for future generations.
Reed Hepler, Librarian and Archivist at the College of Southern Idaho, said, "Spydus has completely changed what's possible for our archives. What used to take months now takes days, and the system allows us to present our collections in a way that's accessible, engaging, and easy to manage. We're seeing a real increase in interaction from both the college and the wider community."
The CSI project highlights Civica's growing presence in North America, bringing decades of global experience in library and public sector technology to US institutions. Already trusted by public service organizations across Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, and the UK, Spydus is now helping US libraries modernize services, improve access, and strengthen community connections.
