Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez (UAI), one of Chile's leading private universities, has returned to Alma from Clarivate as its library services platform, marking a strategic reaffirmation of its long-term digital infrastructure vision.
Founded in 1988 and originating from the historic Valparaíso Business School established in 1953, UAI serves more than 10,000 students across four campuses in Viña del Mar and Santiago. With over 400 full-time faculty members – more than 70% of whom hold a PhD – the university is recognized for academic excellence and a distinctive educational model that integrates Liberal Arts, professional foundations, and advanced specialization. Ranked 23rd in the Times Higher Education Latin America 2026 ranking and within the top 2% of universities worldwide in QS, UAI continues to strengthen its national and regional leadership.
Following a comprehensive reassessment of its library management environment and alternative solutions, UAI made the decision to return to Alma. The move reflects the university's focus on operational efficiency, automation, and delivering a seamless discovery experience for students and faculty.
The migration to Alma aims to automate at least 90% of processes currently managed manually, optimize resource administration, and significantly enhance the user search experience – making discovery simpler, clearer, and more effective in guiding students and faculty to reliable, citable academic content.
UAI Libraries is actively transforming into an integrated knowledge ecosystem, with interdisciplinary collections, expanded digital resources, personalized services, and technologies aligned with active learning methodologies and artificial intelligence. Alma will provide the robust, scalable infrastructure required to support this evolution while improving operational efficiency and freeing staff capacity for strategic institutional initiatives.
As part of the broader Clarivate community, UAI also seeks to strengthen collaboration with regional and national libraries, contributing to shared networks that optimize budgets and expand access to essential academic resources.
"Returning to Alma is a strategic step to automate processes, improve the experience of our students and faculty in an environment marked by complexity and change, and strengthen a regional collaboration network," said Mónica Tabilo, Director of the Libraries, Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez.
"We are especially proud to welcome Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez back to the Alma community," said Yoel Goldenberg, Senior Vice President, Product Management at Clarivate. "Their decision to return after a thorough evaluation of their strategic needs underscores the long-term value Alma delivers – providing institutions with the stability, depth, and innovation required to support evolving academic ecosystems."
The Clarivate team will work closely with Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez to ensure a smooth migration and implementation, supporting the university's commitment to innovation, academic excellence, and long-term institutional growth.
