April 6, 1998 (Raleigh, NC) - Keystone Systems, a leading producer of library automation systems, is proud to announce that KLAS, the Keystone Library Automation System, has been installed at Idaho Talking Book Library as the new library automation system.

The Library provides books and magazines on cassette and disc, large print books, and the necessary playback equipment, for persons of all ages who are unable to read standard printed material. The library also has a large collection of large print books which are catalogued using WLN. This collection, along with the talking book collection, attract many patrons to go to the library, browse the materials and check out materials. The library also has an active volunteer program. Volunteers record books and magazines about Idaho, duplicate cassette books and magazines, repair cassettes, cassettc machines, and record players.

"When looking for a new library automation system, flexibility was very important to us," stated Mr. Kay Salmon, Talking Book Library Manager. "Our old system required a very cumbersome and rigid process. KLAS allows us to perform random searches, move from task to task with ease, and extract a wealth of useful information."

KLAS provides access to the library's catalogue of over 100,000 holdings for its 3,500 patrons. The library's special circulation and tracking needs, mailing to patrons, serving walk-ins, equipment repair, etc., are met with KLAS unique Patron Services and Circulation Control modules. In addition, the library makes frequent use of the over six dozen pre-defined reports available in KLAS to keep track of patron, holding, and equipment information. "In addition to providing us with the required National Library Service reports, we are using KLAS reports to pull out an abundance of good information in various formats," said Mr. Salmon.
