Mackin, a leading provider of print and digital fiction and nonfiction books for PK-12, announced it is a multiyear honoree, winning another Platinum Award in LibraryWorks' ninth annual Modern Library Awards (MLAs). The MLAs were created to recognize the top products and services in the library industry.

MackinVIA, the multiple-award-winning, free digital content management platform, was awarded the prestigious Tech and Learning Awards of Excellence Best of Show 2021 for the sixth consecutive year in the platform's 10-year history. The award spotlights products and services that show the greatest benefit and promise for educators and students, according to the country's most tech-savvy educators. The judges from Tech & Learning rated their impressions on a sliding scale, evaluating areas such as quality, effectiveness, ease of use, and creative use of technology.

January 9, 2014. Using Funds4books and Ebooks to build ebook collections. With MackinVIA, Mackin’s free online platform for electronic resources, librarians now have access to hundreds of thousands of eBooks, audiobooks and databases. By acquiring, managing and instructing students and staff on how to use these new electronic materials, librarians can once again return the academic focus of our schools to the library and align with classrooms to improve and expand learning possibilities for students.


January 2, 2014. Mackin offers free ebook bundles to new MackinVIA users. Mackin Educational Resources is giving MackinVIA users more to love: free eBook bundles. First developed and released in 2010, MackinVIA quickly became a popular content management system for educational databases and eBooks. As an extension of MackinVIA, an eReader app for iPad and Android tablets was launched in 2012 to allow users offline reading of their digital content hosted in the Mackin cloud.


November 12, 2013. Findaway World and Mackin Educational Resources launch new PK-12 digital audiobook platform Inside MackinVIA. Mackin Educational Resources, a leading distributor of PK-12 books, eBooks, digital resources, and the developer of MackinVIA, has joined with Findaway World, LLC, to provide access to more than 31,000 digital downloadable audiobooks directly through MackinVIA.


October 17, 2013. Mackin partners with Random House offering popular titles in e-book format. Continuing its ongoing commitment to expand and augment its PreK-12 digital solutions to support learning, Mackin Educational Resources has partnered with Random House LLC, to offer a robust collection of new and popular eBook titles to school libraries across the country.

1983 Mackin founded by Randal and Kitty Heise
Mackin, founded by Randal and Kitty Heise in 1983, is honorably named after the owner’s mentor and beloved friend, James C. Mackin, who was a founding father of the children’s library book industry.
